Camp Endeavor was founded in 2013 to provide holistic educational experience with a strong focus on STEM learning for elementary students in Philadelphia. Today, the nonprofit serves 700+ students at two schools in the Westmoreland area. With low-cost after school programs and affordable summer camp, Camp Endeavor provides hands-on learning opportunities that encourage STEM exploration through reading and nature.

OUR KEY FOCUS AREAS

Endeavor’s key focus areas are 1) making aftercare affordable for all, 2) building strong relationships schools, 3) combating the summer reading slide, 4) providing STEAM and career-based learning opportunities, 5) improving parent involvement and support of OST, and 6) addressing financial stability with hiring initiatives and entrepreneurship training.

We have developed strong relationships with our partner schools and the families we serve and developed joint programs to help identify and support the needs of each, including aftercare workers working in the schools to help better understand the school’s culture, attending school interventions for at risk children and collaborating with school personnel to best serve students. In addition, by hiring social workers who connect directly with social workers at the schools, we are sharing resources that support children after hours. By hiring parents and offering entrepreneurship training for students, we’re providing a direct investment in building strong communities.

Finally, we strive to better understand and support the dynamics of the families we serve, playing diverse roles as reinforcers and nurturers, caring for and supporting their families during difficult economic times. We stress looking beyond behaviors in the classrooms, as well as increasing opportunities for families to be directly involved in their child's academic success.
